research
We are passionate about research, and offer a superb facility for practice-led research, interpretation and communication. Our current research projects include an investigation into the Culture and Craft of Wood Type, sponsored by the World Wood Day Foundation; an innovative exploration of matter in the Renaissance, funded by the AHRC; a practical project learning washi papermaking in Japan, generously supported by the York Craft and Conservation Consortium; and ‘Four Sheets to the Wind’, a fun, collaborative project about early print and its sometimes chaotic practices.
We also offer unique, interdisciplinary support for research projects, with an emphasis on team building, interpretation and engagement. If you would like to find out how you can work with us to communicate your project, produce unique resources, or approach a research question in a novel, hands-on way, please get in touch!
Keep an eye on our research blog below to find out more about our different projects and collaborations.
